Eating well...or not?

Imagine you're out and about with your spouse (or someone), and it is realized that the car is very low on fuel.  You drive to a gas station, and park by a pump.  Your spouse gets out to start fueling it up.
To your horror though, you realize that your spouse is putting diesel fuel in your gasoline powered car!  You jump out of the car frantically trying to stop them from what they are doing!
Despite all of your efforts, however, your spouse simply smiles and says "Don't worry about it! You should be happy I'm filling up the tank."

Would you not think it very odd?
I would too.

However, we all do this EVERY day.

Just not with a car.
But with something far more precious and irreplaceable.
Our Bodies.
Our Children.

How frequently do we eat without thought, simply intent upon filling our "tank"?

We need to start thinking about what sort of fuel makes our bodies run best.

Sugar is one of the main components of many boxed/packaged foods.  Cereals, sauces, juices, canned fruit, etc., more often then not have some amount of sugar.

But did you know that there is no recommended daily allotment of sugar?

That's because your body doesn't need it!

Sugar leads to obesity, feeds cancer, increases cholesterol, and a whole hoard of other problems.

Recently, I've been investigating the world of raw foods.
*disclaimer: I am not giving up meat!*

Everyone looks at me funny when I say that I'm trying to eat healthier, and that I'm trying to incorporate more raw foods into my diet.  Common responses usually go along the lines of this:

"I want to enjoy what I eat..."
And then I am reminded of what is written in 1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world--the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions--is not from the Father but is from the world.
Eating to satisfy our own fleshly pleasure is obviously not a Spirit-filled choice.
I will unapologetically attempt to look at the world, and myself through  Biblical-tinted glasses.  So therefore, I *try* to make decisions about things based on Biblical insights.

I believe that God has something to say about just about everything.  And I believe the subject of what we eat is no exception.

Unhealthy eating leads to illness, lack of energy, irritability and anxiety.  You need not travel far to find a professional who will agree with that statement.

Looking at it through my Biblical-tinted glasses, an unhealthy body is not able to serve the Lord as well, serve one's family as well, and really, truly love life.  For, when I really feel good, I really enjoy my life!

In a nutshell:
I can't be who God created me to be, if I'm carrying around an unhealthy body.

It never ceases to amaze me how we as humans cling so tightly to the desires of our flesh, that we not only balk but scoff at the idea of doing what is best for us.

Now, without any doubt, I have my own desires of the flesh that I cling to(I'm sure!)...for I believe they come in many and various forms.  However, this is what I am convicted on at the present, so therefore I must share!

There will probably be more posts on this subject, and I may even share a few recipes...

I am also not saying that everyone needs to go all raw.  But I am suggesting that we all take a step back and analyze what you're putting into your body, and what effect those substances are having on your body.

Please, eat for health!
