Crafty Kylie strikes again!

Today, I felt the overwhelming desire to create.  Perhaps it's because I am sick with a cold, and it's only thing to remove my mind from the misery.  Or perhaps it's simply because I need to create either way, I accomplished something, and beautified something, and that is for what my soul longs.

I bought this somewhat unattractive tray for $2 early this fall Jaunk Jaunting (if you've never been, you really must!).

But I saw promise in this unattractive tray.  And so today, I tore the fabric out.

Then I roughed up the wood a bit with some sandpaper, and got out some simple acrylic paint...

...and painted it black.

Better already, huh?

Then I got out some old sheet music, and started cutting and pasting with Mod Podge (I love that stuff).

I continued overlapping pages of sheet music, cutting a random 90 degree angle for the corner pieces, so that it would have a...well...random look.  Until it looked something like this:

And I covered the black with Mod-podge to make it shine, and protect it a bit.  And then gave a second coat to the pages as well.

Here is my finished project:

Now my husband shouldn't have any reason not to bring me breakfast in bed right?

I've also thought about adding a monogram or something in the middle...but I'm still making up my mind about that.  So we'll see what happens next.
