Spring Fever

In my household, spring fever is running rampant.  Well, at the very least, I am suffering most acutely.

What does spring fever mean in my house?  Well, it starts out something like...
...daydreaming about seed catalogs and tulips.
...a vicious, almost spiteful attitude toward snow and winter decor.

Then it turns into a  full fledged spite of all dead, winter toxins in my home.  (This would include, but is not limited to; winter wreaths, pencil trees, snow globes, little lights that suddenly start sparkling too much...)

And so we have arrived to the later, and more acute spring fever symptoms.

The remedy?  Spring decor.  Spring thoughts.  Spring colors.  And of course, the purging of all things winter.

These have all been occurring in my home as of late.

And if I haven't made it clear, I will now.  I'm trying to beautify my home the MOST economical way possible.  I just find doing so to be much more satisfying.

So after that long introduction, here is my latest project:

Flowering branches.

Materials:
Bright, springy tissue paper
scissors
hot glue and gun
twigs

Yep, that's all.

I cut the paper into little bits of various sizes.

And then pinched them from the middle, to make a bud.  (Sort of how you'd put a cloth napkin through a ring...)

I made these in various sizes, gluing them on to the bud points on the twigs, using larger blossoms towards the bottom, and the smaller ones at the top, eventually just rolling very small little balls of tissue, for the teeniest buds.

Until I had something like this:

And here's a whole-thing shot.  As you can see, I added a few artificial stems as well, just to fill it in a bit.

I'm rather pleased with my result.
What do YOU think?
