More Energy--Naturally!

What is the one thing that every mom wants, needs, and never has enough of?

Energy, of course!

A mom's job is rather physically demanded.  When we have to nurse a newborn, discipline a toddler, and take care of something in the kitchen all at the same time; the day begins to wear on a woman!

How many times has a person watching a toddler said "If only I had that much energy..."?   I know I've said it myself a great many times.

But how can you obtain the necessary energy to chase your blessings around?

1.  This may be obvious, but we all forget to take the time to do it:  Drink lots of water (Half of your body weight in ounces) and eat healthy.  Sugar and white flours are not only things that do NOTHING for your body (health, weight and nutrition-wise), but it actually wreaks havoc on your system.  Sugar destroys your immune system, stores up fat in unwanted places, adds extra wear on your organs and slows down the "activity" of your blood cells, causing them sort of "clump" together and not "flow" like they should.  White flour is flour that has the bran and germ removed from it.  The bran and germ are where all of the nutrition is!  That being said, white flour is sort of like paper mache in your gut.  It just is pasty junk that your body doesn't want, and makes your intestines, colon, etc. sluggish...which in turn, makes you sluggish.

2. Get a great Vitamin D. supplement.  This not only boosts your energy, but also helps fight depression and raise your immune system.  Almost everyone is deficient in Vitamin D, especially in the winter months.

3.Get a great multivitamin.   Make sure to invest in a good one, because the absorption level of vitamins are vastly different.  Some will just go right through you, and you won't absorb the benefits of it.  Find a good homeopathic or naturopathic doctor who can suggest a good multivitamin.

4.  Juicing.   Juicing fresh fruits and veggies in my champion juicer boosts my energy level like you would not believe.  I usually do carrots and maybe a stalk of celery or spinach.  Adding an apple adds a little sweetness, if you find it necessary.   I seriously do not know what I do without my juicer.  Just today, I was dealing with an upset stomach and read a recipe that combined ginger, pineapple, and lemon for a tummy calmer.  I added some orange to boost the Vit. C even more, and it worked wonders.  Very yummy as well.  (Just don't add too much ginger.)

5. Green smoothies.  Green smoothies are called green smoothies, because you are using a leafy green for your main base.  Here is my basic recipe:
1 apple
1 pear
juice of one lime
teaspoon of spirulina
As much spinach as you can fit in the blender
A bit of cool water

I layer all of this in the blender, making certain to put some of the fruit on top of the spinach to give it weight for better blending, and top it all off with the water and lime juice.  Blend thoroughly until desired consistency, adding more water as necessary.
If you don't like this recipe, or want to try more, just Google green smoothies.  I would advise to stay away from recipes that contain soy milk, as soy is found to have high amounts of hormones.  This can cause problems for male persons, especially.

6.  And lastly (because this is the hardest for me to accomplish) is exercise.  Exercise boosts your metabolism, giving you more energy.  And it also causes a surge in endorphins, giving you a brighter outlook and a feeling of well-being.  And let's face it, every mom could use that.

I don't always take the time to do all of these, especially the exercise, but it makes a HUGE difference in my day.
So there you have it.  These are tried and true {natural} ways of boosting your energy levels.  It may take a little more time than a cup of coffee, but it lasts longer, and is better for your body.

And really, your husband and children deserve a better you.

MY husband and children deserve a better me.
