Juice Fast: Day 1
Had you thought I'd forgotten about my poor blog?
Almost. Not quite. Life has been wild, crazy, emotional and weird lately, and someday I'll fill you all in.
Right now though, I'm starting a juice fast, and thought I'd chronicle my journey.
Nathan's been juice fasting for 2 weeks now. *gasp* If you know my husband, that should shock you. And
I can't help but be entirely overwhelmed and proud of him, and somewhat jealous of how amazing he is looking. An amazing looking husband deserves an amazing looking wife, right? Right. So therefore, I'm starting MY fast.
I'm juicing fresh fruits and vegetables for 14 days (or longer, depending on how I feel). And I'm eating fresh fruits and veggies for only the first 4 or 5 days. After that, it's only juice (and water) for me. So for these first 4 or 5 days, there will be nothing cooked, nothing non-fruit or vegetable.
So what has today looked like?
This morning, Nathan made a pitcher full of our basic green juice. This concoction includes:
2 or 3 cucumbers
a few handfuls of greens (kale, spinach, collard greens)
a small handful of parsley
5 or 6 carrots
2 apples
1 lemon
a sliver of ginger
Sometimes we'll also add a beet, a sweet potato and/or tomatoes. All run through our Champion juicer.
I drank a 20 oz cup of that this morning. And then for lunch I had a kiwi juice cocktail. This includes:
2 kiwis
1 apple
1 pear
3 or 4 handfuls of green grapes
Yum!
How do I feel? Not bad. Meat sounds really good right now. But other than that...I'm doing great, and I don't feel hungry. My body is definitely beginning to clean itself out though. That's okay though, because most people can easily have 10-15 pounds of gunk clogging up their colon. Yuck! Let's get rid of that.
